The IBA was formed in mid-1993 in the North West of England by 10 Independent Electrical Wholesalers, 6 of whom are still in the group today. By the end of 1999, there were 25 members, a number that has grown consistently each year with now over 95 Members and over 140 branches today. Geographically there are members throughout the UK.

After 17 years’ professional football (Chelsea 1970-1985, then Crystal Palace), I finally hung up my boots in 1987. By this time, I’d already set up Westminster Electrical (1984); a very successful transfer.
I’ve always believed that hard work and commitment are vital to success, and Westminster Electrical reflects this. We genuinely try to put our customers first, and keep pace with developments in the electrical field. My staff are professional and knowledgeable, always ready to go the extra mile to locate what the customer wants. Being an independent wholesalers means we’re well-placed to source and supply all manner of electrical goods even those hard-to-find items.
I am proud of the way my company has grown in the last 36 years, culminating with the opening of our new central warehouse and distribution depot in Welwyn garden city in 2010.This allows us to purchase a vast array of electrical goods at an even keener price for our very loyal customers. We have also invested heavily in a state of the art computer and telephone system to link our London and Welwyn branches. We look forward to being able to provide an even greater service to the people who matter most our customers .

I am proud to follow in the footsteps of my father in the electrical wholesale trade. I have been acquainting myself with the electrical products and industry from the age of 19 working for Westminster Electrical Wholesalers Ltd.
In 2008 I became a Director and I have been focusing on growth in volume and customer base, direct sourcing from well recognized manufacturers, and capability building both in human resources and facilities management. The biggest milestone in my career is steering the selection of and opening of our first Branch office and new headquarters in Welwyn Garden City which we acquired in February 2010 and we took our time in getting the unit refurbished, offices and conference room built, a state of art technology & computer system readied so that we can serve our customers with this new impetus and facility. We also have established a show room of electrical products in our impressive reception hall in Welwyn Garden City which I am sure a place where our customers want to see and experiment the latest electrical products for their wise selection. It is my pleasure to let our dear customers know that this new branch at 9 Southfields, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 4ST, has been officially opened on 03 December 2012 and we are confident it will be our springboard for our future expansions.
I am glad to have key accounts managers and Sales representatives with in-depth industry knowledge and experience on my team working shoulder to shoulder exceeding the expectations of our customers and suppliers.
